City School is incorporated as a non-profit organization 501(c)3 by the Internal Revenue Service. In addition to corporate by-laws, the school is governed in accordance with the terms of City School charter petition.
The City School has a governing Board of Directors that provides oversight and is responsible for all legal and fiduciary matters. The Board of Directors approves and monitors budgets and other financial matters, ensures effective organizational planning by approving long-range goals and annual objectives, and monitors health and safety and the use and maintenance of facilities. The Board hires and evaluates the Executive Director/Head of School.
BOARD OF TRUSTEES & BOARD OF ADVISORS
The City School has two non-governing boards, the Board of Trustees & the Board of Advisors. The Board of Trustees is a "friends of the school" board that meets annually, provides advice and guidance, opens doors and fundraisers for the school. The Board of Advisors is made up of educators and leaders from the fields of law, the arts, and civic institutions.
